HE SAID YES! Happy Father's Day.
This Father's Day was one for me that I will never forget. It changes my history and I am so proud of it. I had so much anticipation for Father's Day this year. Excited. Nervous. All of these emotions surrounded me on this special day. Father's Day is always so special. Its a time to celebrate the Father's in our life who have shaped us and moulded us to become the people we are. It is to say thanks for all the wonderful things they did for us, like teach us to ride a bike, or work overtime so we could go on that amazing family vacation. It is to say thanks to Brian's Dad who took him to scouts and Father/Son camping trips and to my Dad who won an entire trip to London for Two and instead of just taking my mom, he traded it in for a trip to Disneyland so we could go too. I am thankful for our Dads. I am also thankful for our Heavenly Father who has blessed me in my life more than I ever could imagine and for this beautiful life he has given me.
So, Here's to another wonderful Father's Day celebrating the Dads in our life who make our life complete. The boys and I got up a little early on Father's Day... maybe a little too early.. thanks to Bentley.. he is turning into a VERY early riser! (We are working on fixing this). I was exhausted but today was a day to let my hunny sleep in! Bentley, Carter and I went downstairs, ate some breakfast and packed the diaper bag for the day full of snacks and trains! We set out Brian's Father's Day gift which was this lovely Jem!

The boys painted him a Banner...

And this is the cute keychain the gave to Brian for Father's Day!

My Mother-in-law found this cute idea a few weeks back and it was so cute how could we not use it! HOWEVER, on the day she came over to do it with me .. it didn't really turn out. So really she ended up trying to make it a few more times at her house and then I picked it up the next day.. so really she made it for us and we gave it to Daddy! Thanks for doing that Mom! Lately Brian has REALLY been into mini-wheats.. like we seriously buy the biggest boxes of them from Costco and they are gone within a few days to a week! So I had intended on making Brian breakfast in bed with his favorite cereal... Carter and I flipped all the icing up to make it a little more special than JUST a bowl of cereal..

but when I told Carter we were going to bring it to him.. he got SO excited that Daddy was going to be up to play trains with him that he ran upstairs as I was prepping everything and Brian woke up to a tender voice beside his bed saying "Daddy make a track with Carter.. Daddy play trains?" What a better way to wake up on Father's Day than that! He sure loves his Daddy!
We came downstairs and he immediately forgot about his trains (for a couple of minutes) when he realized it was time for Daddy to open his gifts.. everything in life is a little more rushed ... or fast paste.. with a two year old! Brian was excited. I ordered him new inserts for his motorbike jacket! He had been wanted them and I just kept saying.. no.. you dont need them... sneaky me!

Carter was super excited about the bubble rap!

Then it was off to church. It was stake Conference on Father's Day so Church was a two hour Meeting. It was probably the longest two hours of the day. The boys went to bed way to late on Saturday night and were up way to early on Sunday morning so they were tired, I was tired and the whole thing was pretty exhausting. We survived the first hour... and the second hour was spent in the hallway with crying, laughing, over tired kids. But why did we stay? It was for them, It was for us. We are lucky to be apart of such a wonderful church and family. One day Im sure they will be walking the hallways with their kids too wondering why they went and they will have the same answer as me. It is right.
After church, we went to visit with Brian's Dad. We shared many laughs and a yummy lunch and then headed over to Brian's grandparents house for a quick visit! Carter was loving spending time with Grandpa!

I am grateful for Brian's GrandFathers, they are a wonderful example of the love of a Father. They are so sweet and they are always so welcoming. We are blessed for the Fathers in our life.

I am SO GRATEFUL for Brian's Dad. He is an amazing Man! He has taught Brian how to treat a lady. BRian respects me, he loves me and he is the worlds best Daddy. Thanks Dad for teaching him those things and for being such a great example to him.

Next we went to visit with my Dad. This is where my life story changes. Dale and my Mom met when I was 5. He treated my like a daughter. I needed that. He instantly became my step-dad in my eyes. I instantly fell in love. I loved the idea of having a Dad, the emotions that came with it and sense of security. I remember when I was young I would cuddle up on the couch and watch hockey with him, I remember him driving me to elementary school 2 to 3 times per week and I so awkwardly asked him if I could call him "Dad" and he said "of course you can" with so much pride. I used to LOVE when random strangers would say to us "WOW! You can totally tell she is your daughter" because we were both so tall and skinny. It used to make me so happy. I love that although he was nervous to walk me down the aisle when Brian and I had our ring ceremony, he did it anyways because it was important to me.. to us. I love that he shared my first father/daughter dance with me at my grad and my wedding. He was there to pick me up after late dance rehearsals in high school and he was the one who taught me so many things about life and choices. He supports me in all I do and trusts me like a Dad should... but will be honest with me if he thinks I am making a wrong choice. He is a Dad. He is my Dad. But I have also felt for many years like something was missing, but I didn't know what. I knew he was my Dad but why didn't I feel whole? What was missing? And I have finally figured it out.
This Father's Day, Changes my future. It affects my family history. And I am proud of it. I asked my Dad a very important and serious question. I wanted him to Adopt me. I made him this special package.

The first thing was a slideshow of our whole family. Man, did we ever look silly back in the day!
He loved it! In the second box was a letter about us, about how much I appreciate him and who he has made me. But because this big softy is getting more and more emotional in his old age I read the letter for him.

Trying not to cry myself I was able to get through it. I looked at my Dad and he was doing good too. Then he opened the last package. It was the Adult Adoption Papers.

His reaction was one I never expected and one I never want to forget. His first words were "Thank you" as tears flowed down his face. I never knew it was important to him too.

He immediately got up from his chair and gave me the biggest hug of my life. I wished I could have stayed in that moment forever. He has always been my Dad, he will always be my Dad and I am so excited to make it official.

We all were crying, emotional overload. I could not have been happier! I am on my way to feeling whole.

Dad, you will never know how much this means to me. I am your daughter. I will always be your daughter. You have taught me to love and respect. I cherish you for that. Thank you for accepting me. For taking me in a treating me like your own when I was at such a young and tender age. Thank you for braving the teenager years with me. And I cannot forget for thanking my Dad's family. For also treating me like a granddaughter, a niece, a cousin, an auntie and a sister. You guys are amazing and I am happy to be apart of your family. I am excited to embark on this new journey with my Dad and excited for the day that it is finalized. Thank you for saying "Yes" Dad. You have changed my life. I love you so much. You are mine, I am yours.

Wow! My heart is full of joy. I am so lucky to have the life I have. It could have turned out much different... but it turned out beautiful and I am thankful for it. Now, I have one last Daddy to mention. I cannot even being to explain how thankful I am for Brian! He is the BEST daddy in the world. He loves our boys unconditionally. I adore watching him play, kiss and cuddle them. It is so special. Because Sunday was such a crazy day for us.. running around from place to place, I wanted to do one more surprise for Brian! So on Monday, the boys jumped in the wagon...

And we headed out on our hour and a half long journey to the store to pick up ingredients for a delicious dinner for Brian and some fun decorations! The boys were so good and Carter was super excited that he was going on an Adventure for Daddy! It was a great way to spend my morning with my two little peanuts by my side! We got home and while they took a nap I got to the decorations and cleaning the house.. since it completely got ignored over the weekend and literally looked like a bomb went off! I love celebrating Brian and because Carter was having a hard time saying "Happy Father's Day" he was running around all Sunday saying "Happy Daddy Day!" It was so cute! So naturally that is what the day is for us now. Happy Daddy Day Brian!

We got him his favorite candies too! Its unfortunate that they are also some of my favorite too.. because I ate more than he did.. im sure.

Also on our walk, Carter wanted to pick out some flowers for Brian.. who ever said men dont like bouquets! Brian LOVED it! The Dandelions were our favorits!

And to end the night, we had a super yummy dinner. One of our favorites!

Brian, you have no idea how much I love you. How proud I am of you and how happy you make me when I see you with our boys. Brian, you support our family in every way possible and although this Daddy Day is to celebrate you, I hope you know how much we love and appreciate you everyday!
So, Happy Daddy Day to all of you wonderful Father's out there. You truly change our lives.
