Carter needs to go to addiction recovery.

"Hello, My name is Carter, and I am addicted to trains." Dreaming about what my children would be like when I was in my teenager years was always so fun. When I found out we were having a little boy, I wondered what he would be really into.. Naturally I assumed.. Cars, trucks and trains.. but NEVER did I think his Trains addiction would ever get so bad. Im telling you.. this is embarrassing! So While I ease my way into this post, which I solely write so Carter will believe me when he is older about how much he LOVED trains, first lets talk about Bentley! He is now 7 months and growing like crazy! Carter is still loving his little brother and has found so much joy in now carrying Bentley places lol It is SO FUNNY to watch!

He often will carry him from Brian to me or visa-versa and then when he hands him over he shakes his arms out and says "BAH-DE HEAVY!". Bentley doesn't seem to mind much either! What a good sport! Yesterday I also noticed that Bentley got two more teeth! His top middle one on the left and his one two other from that on the right! This mades 4 teeth! Bentley has also found a new love for trains. Give him a baby toy and he will play with it for a minute or so.. but give him a train and he is amused for a while! Carter is LOVING that Bentley can stand up to the train table now to play trains (we still have to spot him though)!

And Bentley is loving it too!

We also gave Bentley his very first Farley Cookie the other day, but in our house we call it a "biscuit" so Carter doesn't feel the need to also have a "cookie" every time.. since we started calling it a biscuit, Carter has lost complete interest in it lol.

Bentley LOVED it! I think he also LOVED the independence of eating it himself too. He sat there and "hugged" his cookie the whole time .. like he was guarding it! It was super cute!

And when we was done.. he was a MESS!! Literally a disaster! Just the way a little boy should be!

Ok now, enough procrastinating. Back to the trains situation. Yesterday, I decided to take ALL of Carter's Thomas the train stuff (I didn't add anything that wasn't specifically "Thomas the Train") and bring it up stairs into one area. Like an addiction, I knew it was going to be bad.. but I didn't think it would be THIS bad! Shamefully, I admit we have bought him A LOT of Thomas the Train stuff.. but also he has gotten A TON over the past year and a half for his birthday, Christmas.. and just random outings as gifts... but this must stop.. we are turning into Thomas land over here! Take a look at this!

So, from afar it doesn't look too bad right? But then when you get up close and personal you realize that there is FAR TO MUCH THOMAS! Here are our stats on Thomas the Train Stuff. We currently have 31 trains, and 29 freight Cars (or Cabooses.. some might say)...

This is crazy right! So as soon as I counted everything I texted Brian at work and said NO MORE TRAINS! He is the softy. In fact, Carter even knows that his Daddy is the soft one because at least once a day he will ask me to call Daddy for him. When I do, he takes the phone and immediately starts asking him to "buy a Ben train, Buy a Emily Train, Buy a Molly train... and Batteries!! Please Daddy" (Repeat 6 times). Brian is slowly learning to say no more trains.. lol.

I look at this stuff and it really makes me giggle. He is SUCH a boy! And thank goodness we have another boy so we can at least justify all this craziness a little more!

I know he could be addicted to worse things. I do like the Thomas the Train shows. I think they have good morals and teach good standards.. but to like something and to be addicted to something is totally different!

Carter has also taken trains into his everyday life! He wouldn't eat beans until I told him that they were "Toby" beans (Toby is the brown engine) .. then he got so excited he scarfed them all down and asked for more! He did the same thing with veggies. When I say "Ok carter lets go in the car.." he frantically starts picking up as many of his trains as he can possible find and fit into his little arms in that one moment and stuffs them into "mommy's bag" .. needless to say.. my diaper bag always weighs 100 pounds.

When he has a conversation with you.. he will ALWAYS say SOMETHING about trains...even if your not talking about them at all. Its so funny! Trains have also taught Carter his colours. When you say "Carter what colour is this.. he will look at it and say "Red like James!" or "Blue like Thomas", "Green like Percy", Brown like Toby" or "Pink like Rosie".. the list goes on.. their is a train in every colour and Carter knows them all! Recently we have been working on our numbers with Carter and thankfully lots of the trains have an engine number on the side of them.. so he will say "ONE LIKE THOMAS" or "SIX LIKE PERCY".. again the list goes on.

So trains are not all that bad. But I think we have acquired enough and hopefully we can broaden his horizon on some other fun toys. I will not be doing a train birthday party for him this year.. maybe I can get him interested in other things! This is getting out of control!

But he is so happy when he plays trains, they are a really fun thing for him to be interested in AND they have helped us teach him so many things already..

... so maybe its not the end of trains for us. Maybe Brian and I should join him in the Addiction Recovery program "Hello, my name is Christina, and I am addicted to trains."
