The Craziest 2 Weeks are Over!
Ok so it has been W.A.Y. T.O L.O.N.G since my last post... sorry.. but life has been CRAZY! We have done Kitchen Renovations.. had a baby shower for my sister ... and I have been doing lots of weddings over the last 3 weekends... Busy BUSY BuSy! So here is our busy few weeks wrapped up into one post!
For the last year or so Brian and I have really been wanting to redo our kitchen.. and about 2 weeks ago.. we dove in and did it! We were contemplating just getting new cupboards or painting them white... long story short.. and to save a few $$ we decided to paint. This task was long and exhausting for me.. but I have an AMAZING mother-in-law who stood by me the whole time and probably did more than I did. She is amazing and I could not have done it without her seeing as Brian is working all day and back at night school and I have a VERY BUSY little man who wasn't very interested in painting!
We had a bit of frustration with the sanding ... but I'll leave that out and just get to the goods... I am SO HAPPY with the end result! It turned out so nice.. exactly what we wanted! And finally... I have a kitchen that I like to be in! Here is what we were dealing with before...

We bought our slate backsplash from Costco for an incredible price... comparative.. and we are so happy with it... Brian was a master at cutting it... honestly I was so scared to do the backsplash... but Brian was confident and we ended up doing a great job! Thanks Hunny!
We even had enough slate to do our fireplace.. as we had hoped! So.. Before...

And a few months back we got a head start on painting our living room... changing all the baseboards and trim and making it more... Livable.. Here is the transformation..
Needless to say.. this space is SO much better... bigger.. and Carter loves having his space back.. we know we succeeded lol
Over the past few weeks my mom and I have been working really hard trying to put together a baby shower for my sister Amanda. My mom came up with a genius idea to do a "Storybook" themed shower... in lieu of bringing a card... bring your favorite storybook to start off Baby Ausmus's library!
I wish I would have thought of something like that for Carter's baby shower... simply amazing! Good thinking Mom! So over the past few weeks we have been planning... cooking.. organizing .. decorating and shopping for this soon to be beautiful little boy! Her shower was perfect! Perfect weather... good turnout.. and she was spoiled rotten... which was our goal! Here are some shots from the day!

We placed random storybooks for her and baby all around ... Baby Ausmus is going to have an amazing library! Carter and I will have to go over and borrow some lol
These next decoration I made! They are made out of pages copied from Dr. Seuss books, cut into circles and glued onto a lantern! I got the idea from Pottery Barn Kids.. I personally think they are adorable!
And thes best part about them is that we are going to have a Dr. Seuss party for Carter's 1st birthday in November.. so i can reuse them!
So my mom was the artist of this masterpiece... creative right! She did one at my baby shower too and it was totally a hit!
Cutest fruit bowl ever! Now judge away ... my amazing cake making friends.. this was my first time with fondant and I tried my best lol cute concept at least!

We even got creative enough to make some Caterpillar sandwiches that would match The Very Hungry Caterpillar book!
We had a candy table.. because lets face it.. baby Ausmus is such a sweetie!

Brian had to work so Carter came with me which was ok because he got to wear his favorite shirt.... naturally...

And through all of the hussle and bussle of the baby shower and renovations... we still managed to find a couple of hours to go and take pictures of my parents who recently celebrated their 19th anniversary! Here are a couple of my favorites from the day!
I am so grateful for my family. For all their help with renovations... the crazyness of planning the best baby shower ever... for the love that my parents share.. and the love I have for my amazing Husband and incredible son. I am truly blessed.
