Why I L.O.V.E being a Mother.

I went to sleep on Saturday night feeling anxious for Mother's day the next day. I wondered what it would be like... my first Mother's Day! I had high expectations including a lot of smiling... laughing and just hanging out with my little guy!

But... with our lives as crazy as they are, we were busy throughout the day and got home just after 9:00pm (past Carter's bedtime!)... I felt like Mother's Day slipped away and I missed it. Now, don't get me wrong.. we had an AMAZING day and spent it with some of the most important people in our lives.. our Mother's and Grandmothers! To see them smile and appreciate being a Mother to Bri and I is incredible.. we love them so much!

I must admit, after going home for the night and I knew I just needed to put Carter straight to bed... I felt a little sad... a little "cheated"... but this morning when I woke up and saw my little Carter I realized that for me, every day is "Mother's Day"! It doesn't only come once a year in our home.. it's everyday. Everyday I get to spend my time with the most important little boy in my life.. we are always smiling and laughing.. every night I get to rock him and cuddle him as I feed him, and say goodnight prayers with him as I hold him so close to my heart. Everynight I get to kiss him as I softly lay him in his crib. Every middle of the night I get to get up and get a cuddle as I feed him and put him back to bed... Every morning I get to sing songs, make him laugh and I always get to sooth him if he cries. I love my son more than words can explain. I love him so much my heart achs every minute that I'm not with him.

Today I realized that you don't ever need to have one day set aside to show your mother that you love and appreciate her.. Carter shows me everyday and I love him so much.

I love being a Mother. I love the joy my son can bring to me. I love the attachment I have to him and that he knows I am and always will be "Carter's Mommy". This post brings a tear to my eye... a happy tear of course and I ponder the feelings I have for being a Mother. I never get vacation or holidays.. I am call 24/7 and do not get overtime. Im a nurse, a teacher and a janitor! I do durty diapers and dished about 6 times a day and I don't get to sleep through the night... but I have the best alarm clock in the morning with little cues and happy smiles, I get all of one boy's little heart all day, everyday.. and I treat everyday like a holiday with my son. He is my L.I.F.E.

Now, I know that the love have for Carter is beyond words... but I would never have had Carter without my amazing husband. Brian, you mean the world to me. You are the rock in our family and you make me a better person. I love joking around with you... I love the way you kiss me every morning before you leave for work and the first thing you do when you get home is kiss Carter.. then me! I love how you put my hair behind my ears and tell me I look beautiful on the days I just don't feel like I do. I love your support and your listening ear.

I love how your hand fits perfectly into mine.

I love your guts Bri. Thank you for giving me the best gift in the world.. I always wanted to be a Mother. You make me fall completely in love with you every day!
