Sleeping Like a Baby... Z.z.Z.z.z.z.

You can tell Carter belongs to Bri and I because, like us.... he likes his sleep. Since Carter was about 7 or 8 weeks we tried to put him on a bedtime schedule.. and let me tell you, it is heaven sent! He usually will sleep 7 hours then wake up for a feeding then sleep another 4 hours. On February 26th, 27th and 28th, Carter surprised us with a whopping 10 hours of sleep with no feedings. It.was.R.e.j.u.v.i.n.a.t.i.n.g! Although we love having Carter on a schedule its not always a piece of cake... pretty much everyday, Carter is fussy from about 7pm to 8pm because he is tired but we will not let him fall asleep past 5pm ... not even for a short "cat-nap". This schedule is strick.. but it works and the whole family gets a good night sleep when we stick to it!

Everyday our "bedtime routine" starts at 8:00pm. First its bath time...

So, we get him undressed ...

And stick him in the tub.

Carter has started to really enjoy taking baths... he has learned that if his kicks his legs the water will splash.. and really what kid doesn't like that?! We blow bubbles....

... and we can always get a smile out of him!

We love that Bath time is not as tragic as it used to be. So quick recap... we start bath time around 8pm and we keep him in there as long as he will let us because bed time is not until 9pm. After his bath... its time for Jammies...

... Nursing and a bottle... Carter and I are both fans of bottle feeding and nursing.. it works for us and that is what matters...

Then, here is when Daddy comes in. Like I said before Brian is the ULTIMATE "burper" so... after eating Bri comes in and burps Carter until he is sure there are no bubbles left!

swaddles him...

.... we both share cuddles with him...

And Voila.. 9 o'clock bedtime. We try not to rock him to sleep because we want him to know how to fall asleep on his own but sometimes I give in and do it because I know the cuddles won't last forever.

Other than our fabulous nights (knock on wood) the weather lately has been H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E! -36c is not what I like at all! In fact I am much more of a summer girl who "gets-through" the winter months, but this freezing weather is not what I like at all. I still try to do my best to stay busy with my little man throughout the day when we are stuck inside the house but we were starting to go stir-crazy so I bundled Carter up...

and we took a little walk over to Kyla's house for the afternoon... it was nice to see Kyla.. she has been one of my best friends since grade 7! Also I finally got to feel her baby kick... Kyla is 34 weeks preggo today and she is having Carter's best friend in just a few short weeks. We can't wait! Carter enjoyed the walk over, he loves stroller walks... even in the brisk cold weather.

Carter, you will always be mommy's little guy. I love spending everyday with you. I don't think I could ever get stick of singing "head-shoulders-knees-and-toes" or "this-little-piggy". When you smile it makes my heart melt. I love you bean!
