The little things.
It happened!! Our next big guy got a phone. Just before summer break. Carter got a phone during spring break of his grade 7 year and when that time rolled around Bentley said he didn't feel the need to have one yet so he just waited. I love that kid, he just makes his own path on his own timeline without pressure to do it the same as everyone else.
We did ask him to make a pros and cons list and he did GREAT! We had a great conversation with him about it and then... the phone was his. Its been nice to be able to communicate with him whenever I need to and Im actually so happy he will have it for summer so when he's out and around with friends Ill always be able to know where he's at and when he will be home.
Im so happy for you Bentley, you're such a great guy and this new step of independence is exciting! Love you buddy!!
Recently, life has been made up of so many big things but I also want to celebrate the little things too because they are the things that take us from one big event to another. They carry us through the more silent space of a memory and I love them equally as much!
Like, when I was stopped at a red light, earlier this week, and Carter jumped out of the backseat to grab me a handful of wildflowers before the light turned green. Urg this little moment was exactly what I needed at that exact time.
Or how we finally finished all the tests for the whole school year! Every PAT exam for Carter is done, studying is done, feeling deflated about a lower unexpected grade is all done and we couldn't be happier about it!! Every day in June (actually every day since September!) has been filled things and its all about to come to a stop.. still not sure how I feel about it.
We have two days left of school before summer break and my heart has never felt more happy and more sad at the same time. Here's to finishing strong and finding happiness while we do it!
