Level NINE!

Holy Cow! This one feels big. This one feels so close to the end and we are super excited about it!! Back in September Carter repeated bloodwork for his ongoing peanut trial with the hopes of continued lowered numbers. This kid is always such a champion when it comes to bloodwork and needles and all things medical. He just does it with ease. A quality he didn't get from me, for sure!

We got his results a couple of weeks later and his numbers were AMAZING!! He was down to a 1.4! As a reminder, when we started this trial 5ish years ago.. he was at a 14+... he needs to be below a 1 to challenge a peanut and pray for no more anaphylaxis. HE IS AT A 1.4!!!! He is amazing, his body is amazing and we're so close!!

We scheduled an appointment to go to Level 9 in the beginning of October.. but had to cancel because he was sick and you cannot challenge the next level if you're even a little under the weather because you're already pushing your body to the limits with the trial. So we rescheduled it to November 1st.. again, we had to cancel because he was still sick. We called to reschedule and the next opening with our specialist was January 28 2025. Urg! It just felt like it was dragging on and on BUT to our luck yesterday they called me and said they had a cancellation for today at 9am if Carter wanted to take it! It was perfect timing. We don't have school this week and it was the easiest YES!

So today, Carter challenged level 9 without hesitation and his body killed it! No reaction. First vitals were taken (all normal as per usual) and then the skin test. Also totally normal results.

Then, 9mm peanut butter. This part always low key makes me nervous and I always have a constant prayer that his body won't have a reaction and all will be well. And honestly, it always has been.

We waited the 30 minutes that they require and just like always, he passed it with flying colours. No reactions and we were sent on our way to do the 9mm dot every morning. He will repeat the bloodwork again in May and hopefully go to level 10 or maybe even just challenge an actual peanut if his numbers are below 1!

So proud of you Carter. You're killin' it and you're so so close to being done!! Your body is amazing.
