He's TWELVE
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENTLEY!!! This kid is 12 and today we are celebrating him! Bentley is one of a kind. He is so kind, smart, helpful, thoughtful and so much fun to be around. Bentley has a natural empathetic personality. He is so good at thinking about how others might feel. We have been so wildly blessed with this guy!
Bentley has such a great group of friends. He is seriously friends with so many amazing peers and constantly bringing funny stories home. He is killing junior high school and sports. He really is just the best! This year for his birthday, he chose to forego a birthday party and redo his bedroom. Unlike Penny, Bentley does not like surprises and wanted to be 100% involved in the remaking of his bedroom. We picked out everything together from the big furniture choices to the little tiny details and paint colours. It came together perfectly for him! This was his room before..
We worked hard. I repainted the trim and doors to freshen it up. We painted his dresser blue and Brian added new hardware inside and outside the drawers to make the doors slide better. A little upgrade to a beautiful dresser to make it even better for Bentley!
And after late nights and busy days, we turned his space into this! ...
It really all came together perfectly and it was the best birthday gift we could give him! Bentley has been spoiled by grandparents who love him so much and gifted him things perfectly tailored to him!
Today he woke up to a decorated table and a full menu of favourites to celebrate!
We started the morning early with Egg McMuffins for breakfast and potstickers in a thermos for his school lunch. The kitchen and stove had been well used for multiple meals before 8am!
We picked up donuts from Bentley and his best-friend-birthday-twin, Baylor for their school class and headed to school where the two of them along with lots of big brothers and friends all dressed up like old school NBA players for Halloween.
Tonight we had steak and cheesy mash potatoes upon Bentley's request and shared our cards with him. Brian barbecued that steak to perfection!
We ate ice cream birthday cake (Yummmm!!) and wished our guy, Happy Birthday!
And, we finished off the evening trick or treating with a TON of friends and sorting out all the candy. We were in bed late and I think Bentley was tapped out by the time he crawled up into those cozy covers.
Bentley, you are one of a kind. You make everyday better. We are so glad and feel so blessed that you are ours. Happy 12th birthday sweetheart. I hope you've had a great birthday and that this year ahead is the best one yet!!
