Fourteen.

Well, it's official! We have been parents for 14 years. That seems wild and crazy and kinda unbelievable actually. Carter celebrated his 14th birthday yesterday and it was fun! I love this kid, SO SO MUCH. He was a hard toddler.. people used to make sly comments to me when he was little saying "just wait till he's a teenager" with the intent that he would be even harder... I wish I could have a one-on-one conversation with each of those people now because this teenager is THE BEST! Like, this phase of motherhood has my heart.

Carter is kind, smart, thoughtful and LOVES basketball more than anything else these days. I love being around him. I love his constant (borderline inappropriate) joking. The way he can read a room when something if off, always sharing a hug with me and is so so good to little cousins and little siblings of friends. He just seriously is the best.

And, just ike his siblings who also recently celebrated birthdays, Carter chose to have his bedroom updated instead of a birthday party and as our gift to him. His room was in desperate need of an update and I was excited to pour my heart into it for him.

Carter was super chill with his room. Black and White and if I thought it would look good, he was on board. He didn't need it to be a surprise and didn't need it finished on his birthday, just whenever. We think it turned out great and Carter "LOVES!" it which is all that matters!

We were lucky that it was a pretty chill evening on the calendar yesterday for his birthday. He did have 7am basketball practice but the evening was slow and much appreciated! He asked for Steak and mashed potatoes with a side of Doritos for dinner. And yes, no veggies.. when I clarified "so, no veggies just chips as a side?" he said "that's right! its my birthday!" Can't argue with that! So we did just that!

We shared our birthday cards with him and then he proceeded to give a forced hug to his siblings #fourteen (LOL) one day he will enjoy squishing those guys, Im sure of it!

Carter asked me to make one of his favourite cakes "Sex in a pan" for his birthday. It really is the yummiest cake. So many layers of goodness! We sang our guy Happy Birthday BUT he has previously ate FIVE full size caramilk bars and felt sick so he didn't even have a slice of his own birthday cake lol. Tonight, I'm sure he's gonna dig in!

Grandparents stopped by to spoil him and wish him a happy birthday and it was such a nice evening.

Carter, we love you. Like, full ADORE you! You make each day better and I am so blessed that you are ours. Happy birthday buddy! Can't wait to see what this year has in store for you!
