TEN!!!
Penny is TEN!! Double Digits!! She has been waiting to be double digits for the longest time and is thrilled that the day is finally here!! Penny is such a spark in our family. We all love her to pieces. She is fun and hilarious and empathetic and kind. She cares so much about others and truly is such a gem! In fact, a couple of times in the past month we have received phone calls about how kind she was to someone or thoughtful she was to someone else. This is just who she is. She can read the room and is always reaching out to kids who she sees needs a friend. Everyone should have a sweet Penny in their life. We are so lucky she is ours!
Penny is turning 10 on paper but 15 in life. When I asked where she wanted to do her birthday photos, it was between Sephora or Starbucks. She landed on Starbucks and got her fav.. a strawberry frapuccino and cake pop!
This year Penny's birthday falls on a day filled with school and an evening filled with 3 basketball practises and a volleyball game so we decided to celebrate her all day yesterday when we had no school and no extra activities! It was the best! We will still make tonight special but wanted her to still feel all the love that she deserves!
She chose homemade waffles and whip cream for breakfast..
Brian and I decorated the kitchen table the night before so when she work up she saw the little treats, Taylor Swift decorations and was super excited about it.
She requested classic spaghetti for lunch and enchiladas for dinner! She wanted angel food cake with whip cream and berries and we made all those things happen! I even made a GF angel food cake (alongside the regular one for her) and it was yummy!! But also, it took 12 eggs... lol so not as simple as a regular angel food cake.
We went shopping, relaxed at home and anticipated Brian's arrival from work because Penny decided a month ago to have her bedroom completely redone for her birthday instead of a birthday party. Her room was in desperate need of an actual update with furniture etc. In fact, Penny was still sleeping in the crib that we bought for Carter.. 14 years ago. It converted into a double bed but was VERY used.. complete with toddler bite marks. She never wavered on her decision to have her bedroom redone and told us she wanted it to be a total surprise! She trusted me 100%. I was nervous because I wanted it to be perfect for her.
I painted and we put it all together secretly this weekend while she slept in the bonus room for a couple of days. It all came together perfectly. Think, Sephora meets Taylor Swift, meets Penny.... and last night we "gave" it to her! SHE WAS SO SO HAPPY!!
She has said thank you 100 times and keeps saying how much she loves it. This makes my heart so so happy! We sang her Happy Birthday and ate cake!
And we finished the evening off with a visit from both sets of Grandparents. She was spoiled, felt loved and had a great day!
This morning we stopped and got 60 timbit donuts to share with her class, she'll have so many birthday wishes and tonight we got big Lolli-pops to bring to her basketball practice to share with her team. What a fun way to turn 10!
Happy birthday, Penny girl. We love you so much. You really are one of a kind and we are so lucky you belong to us. I can't believe you are 10! You're my favourite girl in the whole world! Love you sweetheart!! Happy 10th Birthday!
