Kananaskis Run
Just a simple 25km run.. up a mountain .. like summiting a mounting.. but running... you know.. simple.
I am the most proud wife on the planet. I tell Brian that whatever happens.. I know he will just be able to sort it out so I don't have to stress too much. He is known as "the backpack guy" "the group leader" the "superhero" of the family. All titles he has earned and we laugh about them in all seriousness all of the time... but sometimes.. it's so annoying how good he is at everything!
This Kananaskis run is the perfect example of that. Like, did he prepare for this? No.. he did a couple of runs back in July.. bought running shoes and then just did it.
Him and his buddy, Andrew, just ran up one Side of the mountain and back down again.. and not even a torn ligament. If I tried to do that without actually training for it.. I would end up in a coffin. So yes. I am wildly proud of him and that he could do this.. but also... mildly jealous and negative Nancy definitely showed up the night before with worry about how bad this could go.
Of course, I was wrong. They had the best time, did it in great timing and at the end of the run Brian's watch gave him two gold stars.. one for "congratulations, you've completed your first run" and one "congratulations, you've completed your first half marathon" (insert eye roll here).
The views looked breathtaking though!
Brian and Andrew have gone on a couple more super early morning runs together and it sounds like it really is just the best for the both of them. We have such busy schedules that I am so glad Brian gets to get out and do this for himself. Extra fun that he does it with a buddy.
Just grateful for our backpack/group leader/superhero guy. He crushes literally everything, always. Love you babe!
