We got to play....

Mom's weekend is one of the best weekends! I always look forward to it. I think because while Brian is gone and completely out of cellphone range I have a deep desire to keep so busy and kill the time with FUN! The kids and I were on our own from Thursday afternoon until Sunday afternoon and we were BUSY!

We started the weekend off with eye appointments and dinner at the food court. This dinner was awesome because we ordered from multiple different resturants to make up one giant meal that filled us right full!
We learned that Carter is joining the glasses club. Poor guy, but he's gonna rock it and look great, I just know it!

Friday morning we had a slow start and it was awesome! The kids and I met up with Jess and her kids at winsport karting. We love doing this in the summer and it was seriously so fun to have friends come with us this year. The boys all hung out, Penny and Jersey hung out side by side the whole time and Jess and I with her littles got to hang out and Im not going to lie.. the fact that her babies were happy to kart with me my whole soul melt. I love her kiddos so so much. It really was honestly so much fun!
We did 3 runs. 3 chair lift rides and raced each time down the hill. It was the perfect activity with the perfect weather!
After Karting, we met up with Alli and her kids at the park. It was also so fun. Such a great day with friends!
Saturday was different than usual on this particular weekend because I was working at a big wedding for 12 hours. The kids were on their own in the morning and then Auntie Amanda came and got them for the afternoon/evening. They had a blast and I am so greatful that she could keep them busy for the second half of the day when I couldn't be there! Thank you Sis, I love you!!
The wedding went great! I left our house at 7:45am and drove 2 hours to Lake Lousie and then was back in Calgary for the reception and home by 10pm! All the while praying everythign was going to go great when I didn't have Brian able to come rescue me if anything went wrong. It was a little stressful but a beautiful day doing what I love!
Sunday was yet another stressful day. I had been asked to give a talk in Sacrament meeting and it just so happened to land on the same weekend that I was also teaching relief society in the second hour of church. I had everything prepared ahead of time and tried my best to be so super prepared that I wouldn't leave much room for nerves.

The kids were AMAZING Sunday morning as we woke up early to make it to 9am sacrament meeting. Jokes on me... we left with 20 minutes to spare, BUT Chaparral was having their annual triathalon race and all the roads were blocked off. A poor cyclist had been hit by a car and long story short, it took me 50 minutes to make it to church. I didn't walk into sacrament meeting until 9:30! My nerves were shot! My stress level was at 1000 and I felt like I couldn't breath and was probably going to puke on the stand at the pulpit. They knew I was stuck in crazy community traffic and so they had the last speaker speak first and then I spoke last. Everything worked out but MAN was that ever a disaster feeling. Yikes!

My sweet in-laws were there to support me and my sister too and I'll admit, having them there seemed to calm my heart a whole lot. I am so grateful for their support. More than they'll every know.
I made it through my talk, taught a successful lesson and left church feeling a GIANT weight off my shoulders!
Brian was home by Sunday evening and I was SO glad to see him. Everything in the world felt right again. This Moms weekend was awesome and stressful on different levels. Looking back I know im going to laugh at how commical I probably looked rushing into sacrament 30 minutes late with no husband and three kids. It really is the black cloud that is following us around but we're surviving and making memories.. so.. I think it was successful!

Mostly, I am BEYOND grateful for our three kids who were INCREDIBLE this past weekend. We laughed so much and did so many things and I know we're gonna look forward to next year's Moms Weekend!
