17.

This past weekend, Brian and I celebreated our 17 year wedding anniversay in the best way! I cannot believe we have been married for 17 years. It seems crazy, surely it hasn't been that long, right? How is that possible. In the last 17 years, we have built the most special life.

Although not always easy, we have chosen to stick together through all the hard times and we couldn't be in a better space than we are right now. Brian, you have filled my bucket, everyday.

I am so so grateful for this amazing man. He surprised me with the best little weekend staycation and it was exactly what I needed. Brian had planned with his parents to have the kids for the weekend and after work on Friday, he whisked me away! We stayed in this awesome apparentment Air bnb downtown Calgary. I actully love that we just stayed in our own city. The pressure to explore went way down and it really made it such a relaxing weekend!

We grabbed the yummiest pizza downtown Friday night and then headed to the appartment. On the way there.. I suddenly realized I forgot pajamas... I know, who cares... except I care.. like, a lot! I need those jammies to sleep! Brian also forgot to pack his.. oops. So we made it into a challenge. Almost all the stores downtown were closed so we were left with one. MEC. We had 45 minutes and chose to only shop in the clearence section. We were successful but left with bright blue sweat shorts for Brian. Barbie pink sweatpants for me (all in much too big sizes) and a blue sweater which actually I love! It was fun and the perfect game to start the weekend off.

Our Air bnb was so fun. Industrial but cozy and on the 14th floor.
The entore weekend was spent relaxing and pampering us! Saturday morning we did our first ever Boudior shoot together. It was nerve wracking but so fun and the photos are beautiful. They show our intense love for one another and I know I will cherish them forever. 10/10 would recommend.. get your honey and snap those photos! Of course they are just for us to share together but we did also make sure to have some serious fun.....
We used the E-scooters to get around everywhere downtown. Mostly because our minivan broke (spewing coolant everywhere) the second we pulled into the underground parking, but it really was so fun to just leave the car where it was and scooter or walk everywhere. I would do that again.. even if the car was working!
We did a couples massage, went for (Brian's first ever!) pedicures and ate at so many cute places!
It was so nice to unplug from life for a moment and just be the two of us. He really is my very best friend! And while we were having a blast, so were the kids with Grandma and Grandpa Reed. We are so grateful for them, keeping our kids company, feeding them and hanging out with them for the weekend!
We checked out Sunday monring to get back to relality.. which punched us in the face when we realized how bad the van was. We slowly chugged it to the dealership.. with a couple of stops (the cemetary feels poetic doesn't it lol) to let it cool down for 10 minutes.. It felt like an extra long drive.
We did make it thankfully and took an Uber home! When we arrived there was the cutest sign and balloons waiting for us. We have cute kids!
When we thought that was the final adventure for the day.. we forgot that we're living under the black cloud of 2024... jokes on us! We came home to a green hot tub.. gross.. but, easy to fix. So we started on that...
We had to drain the whole thing, put in a new filter and refill it. This takes hours but that really wasn't the worst part. We looked close enough in our yard to see an INFESTATION of Chinch BUGS!!! Like, EWWWWWWWWwwwwwwww!!! Ive had the heebie-jeebies all evenings.
We ran to the store to get the right chemicals to kill them. BUT they just kept coming.. it felt like there were millions of them EVERYWHERE in our backyard. Climbing the fence, the deck, the entire perimiter and center of our yard... I feel grossed out just typing this! We also did the soap water trick which definitely helped but we haven't won the war yet!

We have a guy coming in 2 days to hopefully kill everything. Praying that it works and we can just move on because otherwise I might have to burn the house down!

It took us the entire day to deal with adulting problems but we did it together and there is no one else Id rather live under a black cloud with. I love you Bri, happy 17th anniversary. You mean everything to me!
