in the middle.

The in-between week has been glorious. It's been a mix of nothing and everything all together. Brian has not had any time off this holiday season so it has been a little different feeling for sure. Our usual hussle and holiday bussle stopped right after Christmas Day. I used boxing day to box everything up and put the house back to normal. It felt so fresh and so much needed. The kids have just been as relaxed as possible which is exactly what we all needed. They have been going to bed late, sleeping in (just a little because they're not very good at sleeping in lol) and just having PJ days, too much screen time, and hanging out together. It honestly is the week where I come off of this holiday high, take a deep breath and breath in the calm of the in-between week. I love it.

Along with our "doing nothing" this week, we also made a point to go sledding and get slurpees.
We have watched lots of family movies, made so much popcorn, played in the backyard, and yesterday I took the kids and we went on a mini day trip to Lake Louise. Its cool to think that people travel accross the entire globe to go to this location that is only 2 hours away from our front door. Even the drive was breathtaking.
When we first arrived they said the parking lot was full and to come back again later. I didn't realize they would turn us around and send us away.. so, I did a quick you turn and tried again... still about a 15 minute loop. Luckily, we got in and found a parking spot fairly quickly! I didn't even think there would be a chance to be turned away again and again and so Im so so glad it worked out the way it did!

We laced up our skates and took off onto the lake with some of the prettiest views in the world!
These kids really really impressed me! Like, we rarely ever go skating and yet... they were doing so good! A true Canadian Trio if I do say so myself!
We explored around the ice castle, fell a couple of times and were all still smiling by the time we wanted to head back and couldn't feel our toes anymore. There is nothing in the world I love more then spending time with these guys.
On our way out we they tried to shake a few trees but they just couldn't get the snow to crumble from the branches.. luckily, Carter helped a lil' sis out...
And, just for fun, because we can... we stopped at a great candy store in Banff.. it was the cherry on top!
These are the days that I live for with them. I have loved every minute of this middle week. It has been so relaxing and just what we all needed! We're excited to ring in the new year tomorrow night with our favourite people!
