Let's Go Vipers!
A month ago, Carter tried out for the all stars Vipers baseball team. He made the team as a spare and we are so proud of him. For his first year ever in baseball and then to make the allstars team is a big deal! Carter goes to every practice and when they're missing a player for their game, they will call Carter up to play with them. He has made so many great new friends, its been such a good experience for Carter. Bentley can hardly wait to try out next year!
Luckily, there have been many opportunities for Carter to play. He had played in a few games already and this past week he was asked if he would travel to Lethbridge with the team and play in their tournament. This made all his baseball dreams come true! He was so excited to be able to play with his Vipers team.
We headed out to Lethbridge at 7am Saturday morning. He needed to be at the diamond by 9:15am for the 10:00am game. We made it right on time.
Carter played two games on Saturday. One from 10am-Noon against a Calgary team and won 14 to 8. He played again Saturday evening from 5pm-7pm against Regina and won 11 to noting in the 5th inning so the umpire called the game. We had one VERY happy team at the end of Saturday. Saturday was so much fun for these boys. Carter was right in there with the team making new friends and feeling so happy. We all headed back to the hotel and had a pizza/pool party Saturday night. We were so tired but so happy. All the parents called it a night around 9:30pm. The team played again Sunday morning from 11:30am-1:30pm against Medicine Hat. We mercied this team too and walked away with a third win.
The last game they played was against a Lethbridge team. We played from 2:30-4:30 and lost in the last inning by 1. This was the best game to watch. It was competitive and our hearts were racing. It was so much fun to watch Carter smash the ball at bat under all the pressure of needing runs home. He got to players home and was so happy! It was such a fun weekend to be called up to play. We are so proud of Carter and his efforts in improving when he wants something. He has practiced SO MUCH to be where he is at, he holds his own on this allstar team. Congrats on a great weekend, love you Buddy. My parents came down to Lethbridge too to watch Carter play in his Sunday games. It was fun having them cheer him on and support him. After all was said and done we made a quick stop at the turtule pond that Lethbridge has. It was sweet to see the teeny turtles even if they were too far to touch. So grateful for these adventures, even if it means I feel like I need to sleep for a week after them!
