One for the Books!

This past weekend was one for the books! Brian left on Thursday night to go on a weekend backpacking trip with his good buddy, Matt. They try to go yearly and I love that they do. Its so good for Brian to just completely unplug, to get out into nature and have no weight on his shoulders... other than the million pound backpack he carries around lol.

I hold down the fort, sleeping with one eye open like the wimp that I am and get to adventure with the kids. We had a great weekend together. Friday was our pool party day, Saturday we went to the Saskatoon Farm, a bike ride, Mcdonalds and a movie night at home and Sunday we braved church.

These three cuties are seriously my life. I love the time I get to spend with them.

Brian had a great time too. Sounds like it was the perfect getaway. They caught a fish and swam in the glacier water (actually just Matt was brave enough to dive in!) and Andrew came out and joined them for an afternoon as well. They hiked around and saw lots of animal prints in the ground. Brian came home tired and sore but refreshed and Im so glad he had such a great time.

The Saskatoon Farm was so fun. We usually go at least every year but this year was so good for the soul. Its calm and beautiful. My mom came with us and that was such treat.

The kids helped her carry around her produce and we all became wide eyed at how huge and amazing all the veggies were. Theres nothing like fresh farm produce!

Our favourite part of the Saskatoon farm is seeing all of the little animals. The cute cats and dogs running around wild and free and this year we saw a sweet mother hen surrounded by her new babies and sitting on her last egg waiting for it to hatch. It was SO sweet! We all instantly fell in love with them.

These kiddos also love climbing and love to clim ALL the things. They would have climbed this little structure forever.

We made our way to the tortoises. This is new this year and Bentley was SOOOO excited about it. On our way there we found this fun little jail. The kids were so exited to put on their acting hats and had a blast doing it. Carter was so serious about his Mug Shot. Bentley couldn't stop laughing and Penny, well, she was just so sweet with those silly faces.

The tortoises were our favourite! There were so many of them. It was the best little sanctuary for them.

The Saskatoon Farm was so fun. Having my mom with us was lovely. Its not often we get to do stuff like this anymore, but every time we do, we have a good time.

All in all, it was a weekend for the books. Brian had a great time, we had a great time and we're both so excited to be back at home together again. I cannot believe the kids start school this week. My thoughts on that, next!
