Puddle Jumping!
Well, it has been WAY too long since I did a post last, but the truth is, we just haven't really been up to much. The weather over the last few weeks has been INSANE.. FREEZING to say the least. -40 is just far too cold to go outside. So the boys and I have been staying inside watching movies, having panama days, playing play-doh, making train tracks, tents and forts like non-other to keep ourselves busy. Its been an extremely LAZY few weeks. Finally last weekend, the weather warmed up. It has been beautiful outside and having the windows open throughout the day with the fresh air blowing through the house seems to be making everything just a little bit better. Yesterday, the puddles outside seemed too tempting. One of the best parts about spring is puddle jumping! Well, at least at our house! So after lunch and nap time, the boys got their rubber boots on and we went puddle jumping! We didn't even make it off the driveway before the boys found a puddle to play in. This is Bentley's first year puddle jumping but he caught on quickly once he watched his pro jumper brother doing it. They were in HEAVEN!

It took a bit, but I finally convinced them to continue walking. They were happy once spotting a little bit bigger of a puddle. It was a great one. The sun was shinning on my face (which was more than needed these days) and the fresh air flowing through our bodies.. we all needed this puddle jumping.

Carter then convinced Bentley to "Find a BIG BIG BIG HUGE puddle"... hand in hand they went searching!

Bentley, being an ameture, was actually doing pretty good. He LOVED the idea of being aloud to make a complete mess and was really all smiles!

And for me, one of the sweetest things is really how Bentley looks at his big brother. He is always following him around.. watching his every move.. and wanting to really be just like him. The amount of love children can bring to your life is just ... unreal.. too good to be true.

Finally, after testing out a few different puddles.. getting bigger every time... the boys found one that they were both completely satisfied with! It was "HUGE" as Carter explained it.. full of mucky water and mud.. perfect for rubber boots!

But I should have known better while puddle jumping with an ameture! Poor Bentley! about 5 minutes into playing in this wicked puddle he fell face first straight into the mud! It was almost slow motion for me as I lunged forward (good that my camera was around my neck or it would have fallen in too!) to TRY to catch him but I didn't make it. He went straight in ... I grabbed him and tried not to laugh but it really was pretty funny.. and yes (awful mother moment) I just had to take a picture.

My poor sweet baby!!!

Because we were just on a walk, I didn't bring our diaper bag.. so therefore I had no baby wipes or kleenex or anything! I tried to use my sleeves, by they were soaking wet from jumping and grabbing him out of the puddle... so I took his hat and used the back half that didn't go under. Im sure I looked like a crazy mother walking him home in my arms looking like a muddy mess!
But he was a pretty good sport. By the time we got home he was laughing .. only because Carter was laughing (at his dirty face) .. and in turn, I started laughing... we three sat on the step laughing as I tried to undress this muddy little guy!

Although now we can no longer call him an ameture at puddle jumping... he has done his initiation and is a full blown PRO! hahaha I love these two boys so much.. even with muddy faces.
