Our Sweet Little Bentley. Week One.
I can hardly believe baby Bentley is already one week old! Our first week was great for the most part. Bentley has been sleeping like a dream baby waking up every 4 or 5 hours for a feed in the night and eats every 2 or 3 hours during the day... I hope this continues! He is not a fussy baby AT ALL.. in fact he seriously hardly ever cries. Carter has been adjusting really well to his new baby brother... he has been sharing his toys and even his blankie and seuss with Bentley every so often and I don't even have to ask him to. When Bentley lets out a little cry Carter looks at me and says "Baby Bentley Sad" and then will go and give him a kiss... it really is the sweetest thing. Another amazing saying Carter has been saying is "Bless you Baby Bentley" every time Bentley sneezes. It is ADORABLE! Carter is such a good big brother!! In the first week I have only noticed one little spout of jealousy... I had just changed Bentley's poopie diaper and about 10 minutes later Carter started telling me he had a poopie diaper too.. when I checked it was completely clean.. not even a pee.. when I said.. "no poop!" to Carter he had a total melt down and I ended up changing his completely clean diaper to another clean one lol silly boy... but after that he seemed total fine again. Weird. Carter is really good with Bentley so far... when we ask him if Bentley is his best friend he says "YAAASSS" .. it makes me smile every time! And I love that he calls him Baby Bentley.. never ever just Bentley. I am one lucky mama!
When Bentley was just 4 days old we decided to take some cute newborn shots of him. He totally cooperated for the most part... after he pooped all over me .. twice.. and peed all over.. twice.. then he was ready to go!
We truly are so lucky with Bentley.
In Bentley's first week we had a little bit of a scare too.. when we had our day after baby is born doctors appointment we were informed that Bentley went from 8 pounds 11 ounces to 8 pounds 3 ounces (which is totally normal) but he was really jaundice... the nurse told us that we had to come back 24 hours later and if his jaundice was worse then he would have to be admitted to the Peter Lougheed Hospital to sit under the lights for 24 hours... I remember hearing the exact same news when Carter was born... so I did the exact same thing I did with Carter to prevent that from happening. I fed Bentley every 2 hours! We went back the day to have his jaundice checked again and he was in the clear and weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces! He gained 3 ounces in 24 hours.. WONDERFUL NEWS! I was so releaved... I really didn't want him to go .. I just wanted him to stay at home with us... every day is such a precious gift!
And my favourite picture of all time... Brotherly Love.. even Bentley let out a little cute smile for it :)
Even the simplest things.. like ears, fingers and toes can make a mother smile and melt her heart!
I am totally soaking up all these precious little moments because now I know how fast it truly does go.. before I know it, it will be Halloween again and he will be One... Scary thought! I wish they could stay this small forever.
Today Bentley had his one week check up with Dr. Ward. It went great! Bentley is healthy and happy and thats all we could ask for! He has also surpassed his birth weight and now weighs 9 pounds 2 ounces! So I am aloud to let him sleep and feed on demand! What a big boy he is already! We love our little big boys!

And... just as we were finishing up photos.. poor Bentley peed ALL OVER HIMSELF!
Soo.. we gave him his first bath at home!
And he was totally fine with it :)
What a good little boy! And not to mention the smell of a clean newborn baby is one of the best smells in the world.
So that was our first week celebrating our little Halloween Baby and the new Big Brother Carter! To bad their halloween picture didn't turn out as good as our first week!
