Choo, Choo.....Bus,Bus...
Today was an eventful day! Today, Carter's dream came true! For the last few months Carter has obtained a serious addiction to Trains ("Choo, Choo's") and buses ("A BUS")! EVERY time we are driving.. anywhere.... he has his eyes wide open looking for a bus or a train! The second he sees either one.. he INSTANTLY gets so extremely excited that he shouts from his carseat "A BUS!!! A BUS!! A BUS!!"... or "CHOOO CHOO, CHOO, CHOO"... and doesn't stop shouting it until you acknowledge the bus or the train... it really is priceless!
So today, we decided to take him on a bus to the train station.. to Riley Park downtown ... and back on the train home... Here is how his dream came true.
We left first thing this morning... and I think Carter knew exactly what was about to happen to him... he was already having the time of his life just waiting at the bus stop!
Usually we can't keep him in one place at once but today... he was happy just to hang out and wait for the bus!
Once we got on the bus... he instantly became amazed!
He was so excited that he was sitting on the bus.. looking around.. sitting so good and really honestly we were so excited for him!
Who ever knew a City Bus could bring so much joy to our family! Once we got to the train station Carter was ready to get off the bus and go to find the Choo Choo...
And nothing was going to stop him... he RAN right down the ramp as though he had been there a hundred times before... he felt right at home... it was super cute!
We only had to wait a few minutes for the train to get there but Carter was anticipating it so much he was having a hard time sitting still... so .. he explored!
And finally the train came! The only problem.... it was going the wrong way.. which is a little impossible to explain that to a one year old... so we said "bye bye Choo Choo" and waited on the other side...
...a minute later.. the right train came!
And he was sure this time... no matter what... he was getting on this train.. and he was excited!
He sat on the train like such a big boy...
And to try to explain how excited he was while we were on the train does not do justice. He had Brian and I smiling non-stop .. he was vibrating with excitement... talking up a storm and looking out the window was his favourite part!
It was about a 30 minute train ride to downtown and carter didn't stop "talking" for more than a minute.. he had SOOO much to talk about!! He was beside himself excited!
Once we got downtown, we got off the train... waved goodbye to the train and the conductor blew the train whistle at Carter... he was so happy! We walked down to Riley Park and let Carter run wild...
We walked around Kensington for about an hour or so and ended up buying Carter a little green wooden Choo Choo... AKA Percy.... off of Thomas the Train... he is IN LOVE with Percy.... usually talkes about Percy all day and held onto his new Percy Train so tight.. he was so proud! We didn't bring his stroller so he got A TON of exercise in this morning...walking most of the way.. so when we went back onto the train to head back home Carter was beyond tired... he could NOT stay awake for the life of him!
... Sitting in his seat... to folding in half...
... Cuddling with Daddy...
...and fast asleep!
Once we got back to the train station closest to our house... we got off and saw our bus drive away... without us... it was going to be there again in 15 minutes but we decided to just take a 20 minute walk home... poor Carter was SO TIRED.. about half way home he just got on his tummy and laid down on the pavement lol... he couldn't go any longer... so Brian picked him up and we walked the rest of the way home... needless to say .. he is having a WONDERFUL afternoon nap! I am so excited to do fun things like this with Carter and his little brother too! It brings so much joy to me as his mother to watch him get excited over small and simple things.
We are the luckiest parents in the world!
